In 1924 Ottavio Bottecchia became the first Italian to win the tour de France. He dominated to the extent that he took the maillot jaune on the first day and wore it every day until the finish. Bottecchia won the tour de France again in 1925 and if not for Adelin Benoir he would have been the only GC leader of that race too. After his mysterious death in 1927, his bike builder took on the Bottecchia name and the company has produced bicycles ever since. The company has a long history of supporting bike racing at the highest level, support that continues today.
